这个10年

现在2009年，4年大学，5年记者的交叉点。从2000年进入新纪元开始，这个世纪注定是一个不一样的年代。有了电脑，有了网路高速公路，有了数码技术，凡事都讲求快、更快、非常快。

因为离开这里，开始收拾办公室东西，从5年前刚进报馆的《晚报》时代东西整理起。蛮惊讶我竟然找回以前的感觉，仿佛我失忆被唤醒。从一本本采访簿看来，我当时一定很忙碌，一个月换一本。把一本连接一本的采访簿排开，很好看。里头写了什么，没时间深究潦草的笔迹，只在踟蹰要不要把它们扔掉销毁，随风飘逝？

找到以前登上的Pressline封面，和《我报》创始前的mock-up。这些努力、理想和当初的奋斗，只成回忆。再看看上新闻课和媒体法律课时，我的笔迹是那么漂亮，有力度和诚意。

2000年进入本地大学念书，2004年毕业，在大学里不知外面的世界如何，专心完成一个接一个的module，和撰写文化题目的论文。踏出社会，进入晚间报章的门槛，有一班好同事互相扶持；后来，很开心来到心仪的《我报》，磨练我的文字。

回首一张张讨论《我报》会是什么模样的计划书、brainstorm点子的纸张……热血沸腾。时间飞逝，事件压缩，现在怎么看都和3年前开报“面目全非”，人事几番新。

我负责的栏目多而广，约会和访问安排得满满，天南地北都去。认识的商家越多，文件堆积如山，都来不及打开来读，又是一份。产品、邀约、饭局接踵而来，多、多、多。我慢慢燃烧完毕我的热忱，我和公关的关系，剩下“How can I help you?”互惠互利，推不掉的只好出席，关系好的更要抽时间现身，不管写不写得出、来不来得及登。是变得机械化吗？或许。

任何沦为公式，没有惊喜，或是什么大惊小喜我都略微看过了。Launch after launch, lunch after lunch，我又学到什么？答案让我不安，很想逃。

这个10年变得太快，我们岂能追上未来的步伐。在这里5年，有阴郁，有快乐，有憧憬，有冲劲，也有失落。真的“去那里工作都一样吗？”我现在在找一个新的起点。或许，日后会不顺遂，但离开是我对得起自己最好的选择。我，还是那个很喜欢写东西发泄心中想法的女生，只是日后或许会转换别的平台与读者见面，分享资讯。

我的专业是文字和人际关系；有思想的花蝴蝶－－以传讯为本业－－开拓不同层面的事业和发掘自己的才能。

喜欢钱（房子）却不喜欢小物质虚荣品。
实际却浪漫的个性。

想得到时，像个男孩子；
不会娇滴滴，想女人称霸天下。
却，有需要被照顾的时候。

以前常往外，现在不会眷恋年轻时的生活。
可以独自看戏、写字和走走停停，独立得坚强。
却，可以被一只棉花糖所溶解。

看不见邪恶的眼

See no Evil 眼不见为净，人们都这样说。

几年前访问过一名失明的女教师。她思想乐观，接见人时笑脸迎人。哪里像我年纪小小，却总是唉声叹气，好像全世界欠了我什么似的。

我之前常觉得高度近视和闪光的我，最怕的就是失去视觉，不能旅行，看不到其他国度里的风景。和她接触后，我明白了：我们也可以把不幸转化成力量。像失明老师所说的，她完成NUS学业每一步都非常困难，但她现在结了婚，还怀了第二个孩子。他们的生活和其他工作人士无异，自食其力。“We are left with no choice，”她说。

我有choice,可是我却悲观、有时不屑一顾，甚至是消极到不行。四肢健全的我不可以这样。

在她小小的课室里，我看到了孜孜不倦的学生，老师开心地辅助教导学题，我当时打从心底微笑了，很久没有那么真心又不经意的莞尔。就算世界是漆黑的，他们脸上还是挂着笑容。

没有选择不是最惨的，惨的是，明明可以选择，却选择最坏的打算，把原本正的路走歪了。

不要悲哀，太阳继续为我们升起。

笑一个，这个世界没有欠我们什么。也没有了不起的人或事可以打击我们。

my last piece of work with MY PAPER-Beauty published today

I like this piece of work a lot, because it was an investigative feature on Preservatives in Skin-care, and my research started in April 08 when I visited a lab in France, when the scientist told us that paraben is actually harmless to the skin and not much evidence points to the cancerous linkages.

When I got back, I always wanted to do this story, so I asked the National Skin Centre (thanks to Ying Lei's contact, she has left SPH too) and several beauty brands-- Origins, Kiehl's, Clarins and Shiseido whose emphasis was on natural ingredients. At that point, Bosia (Fancl) just launched in Sephora stores, so the interview with the brand's GM got the story going.

Hope that I still get to do such stories in the future. And I hope you enjoy it too.

Shortest Hair I've had since Nanyang Girls High School days. It is a bit like A*mei, a bit like 小S. I love it ruffled and messy, the more stylish it becomes.

Thank you Jason. I only trust him with my hair, regardless if I had it long, short, curly, bob, rebonded or the colours he recommended me. He has been doing my hair for the last 3 years, and has given me so many different styles I never dreamt of, and he has never repeated any hairstyles. My personal beauty magician!

He did a good job covering my stick-out ears (hair length till earlobe), and gave me a slope on the back with razored end that I can't resist touching the back of my head every now and then to feel the spikey hair ends, and a soft front with long fringe so I can texturise my hair in the day for work :D

review:
For once, I am very proud of Singapore and our local drama and musical talents. Kudos to the director Loretta Chen (sister of artiste Chen Zhi Cai) and singing sensation Laura Fgyi.

Men-women-men-women, a mix of identity, interwined with a love tale, and embedded with witty and hilarious gay puns that set me rolling with laughter. And this is the only theatre/ musical production I watched locally that did not send me to slumberland (Ok, I only fell sleep for 15 mins and missed the scene where they fell in love at Cassell's, darn.). The others like CATS and Chitty-Bang-Bang were more of kids' show and yea, I slept soundly in the comfort of the aircon theatre.

I think the well-furnished sets, dazzling costumes (*heart * Victorian fashion) and draperies, well-cheographed songs and dances deserve your attendance. Never mind that ST gave a not so brilliant review for such a brilliant show is not justifiable in my opinion.

Like a friend's friend who said, watching theatricals is very subjective. And I liked what I saw so much, that I am going to help by exercising i-WOM. I sms-ed all my gay friends immediately and asked them to go see it.

Ends 29 Nov. Productions by Zebra Crossing. Oh, and as the show is running in the theatres, Loretta is away in a developing country building homes for the unfortunate children. A very confident lady to leave her show behind and let it run without her!

I look forward to their next remake of the classics.

new "Beauty Map" Dec 2009 Issue No.1

Sign up for this brochure-in-a-foil "map" publication BEAUTY MAP as a member for free. Or, get it for FREE @ Sephora beauty store (Takashimaya) starting Dec'09. I was a stand-in for a friend who was sick, unintentionally becoming one of the five covergirls for this maiden issue. I enjoy glamourous photo-shoots, and seeing myself appear on glossy paper. One of my childhood dream is to be a Covergirl.

The issue's topic on Skin Immunity, worth a read!

Kudos to the new publisher (Mr.-- he has to emphasize this because he is sick of being addressed Missy) Yen Wong, my good friend.
